So it’s a good idea to briefly touch upon the workings of testosterone, its functions and how and where it is produced within the body.

It may come as a surprise to some people but it’s not just men that possess testosterone, women also produce a certain level of this hormone, albeit a fraction of what the average male produces.

Just to give you perspective, the average male will produce at least 10 times more testosterone than the average female.

A normal healthy male will produce between 2.5 and 11 mg of testosterone on a daily basis, whereas the female will produce no more than 0.25 mg of the hormone inside her ovaries.

As you can see, there is a considerable difference between the two sexes in the amount of testosterone that they produce.

So why do you think that males produce more testosterone than women?

Look at it this way, if females produced the same amount of testosterone as males, they will have the same deep voices as males, probably be a lot heavier than what they are, their body shape will pretty much resemble the male, and not forgetting the facial and body hair that is likely to surface.

That’s why it’s important to recognize that testosterone is the primary “male” hormone, responsible for a lot of our masculine features.

Our testosterone dictates our body shapes, our voices, body hair, and even penis growth.
