We Advise and You Decide
Tribex September 22, 2014 By Gareth Leave a Comment
Tribex is described as the “king of testosterone boosters”. This product has been developed by the world-renowned supplements manufacturer known as BioTest. Tribex apparently contains powerful testosterone boosting compounds. These compounds are named as Tribulus Terrestris and Vitex Agnus Castus, both of which we will look into, under the ingredients section.
The manufacturer describes the compounds as “super concentrated” to allow for maximum potency. Quite bizarrely, the manufacturer states on its official website that each batch of Tribex is evaluated, down to the raw materials to ensure that “each finished bottle performs at the highest possible standard”. We would have thought that this goes without saying, and at all high-quality manufacturers are expected to follow this practice.
Serving Information
Each serving size is the equivalent to 2 capsules, and each container holds 37.
Relevant Ingredients
Here comes the interesting bit. A lot has been made of the ingredients that have gone into this formula. Tribex contains two primary ingredients, the first being Tribulus Terrestris. A lot has been made of this ingredient in recent years, so what is it? And does it enhance testosterone? Tribulus is a type of plant that comes from the Ayurveda family, and has been used for generations for its ability to promote male virility, and vitality. The root of this plant is believed to enhance the libido and overall sexual function and the fruits appear to play a protective role for organs. Unfortunately, this ingredient has also been touted as possessing incredible testosterone enhancing properties. The reality is quite different, because study after study has failed to identify any such qualities.
The second main ingredient in Tribex is something called Vitex Agnus Castus. This is essentially a type of flowering plant that is commonly used in certain parts of the world to help alleviate premenstrual syndrome. Interestingly, this ingredient is known to increase estrogen levels, which compete with testosterone, and preliminary studies on rats also seem to suggest that it works to reduce testosterone, as well as luteinizing hormone levels.
As you can see, the first ingredient bears no relevance to testosterone enhancement, and the second, actually works to counter the effects of testosterone.
Side-Effects
No major side-effects have been reported.
How to Use Tribex
Users are advised to take 1 to 2 tablets in the morning and 1 to 2 tablets 6 to 8 hours later, preferably on an empty stomach, accompanied by 8 oz of water. Under no circumstances are you advised to exceed this limit.
How Much is Tribex?
$34.95 (74 Capsules)
Our Take
This is probably one of the most ineffective testosterone boosters that we have seen so far. The ingredients used are appalling.
For a start, it has been established that Tribulus Terrestris is completely ineffective in influencing testosterone levels, and Vitex Agnus Castus actively works against the effects of testosterone. This ingredient also increases estrogen, which is a primary female hormone. In a nutshell, do not expect any testosterone enhancement.
